A572 is a high strength low alloy steel plate used in a variety of structural applications. The most common grade Chapel Steel stocks is Grade 50.
A572 steel - Gnee steelASTM A572 Specification refers to High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel Plate for structural building, among the 5 steel grades of 42, 50, 55, 60 and 65, Grade 50 is one most common steel in applications where need more strength and less weight, use steel plate of this grade other than ordinary carbon steel will make the steel structure with same steel strength but lighter weight.
Note that A572 Grade 50 (like A690) is already a higher-grade material when compared to A328 (at 39 ksi). May 27, 2009 · You are just concentrating on mechanicals I think. An ASTM specification contains a whole host of specifications other than the mechanicals. Chemistry for example:C 0.26, Cu 0.2, Mn 0.8 - 1.2, Si 0.40, P 0.04 max, S 0.05 max for A36, C 0.23, Mn 1.35, Si 0.4, V 0.01-0.05, Cb 0.005-0.05, P 0.04, S 0.05 for A572 gr 50. Some specs specify the furnace method, some specify the heat treat.
ASTM A572 - SSABThe ASTM A572 specification is the Standard Specification for High-Strength Low-Alloy Columbium-Vanadium Structural Steel for plates used in general construction and structural applications. ASTM A572 includes five grades with specified minimum yield strengths of 42, 50, 55, 60, and 65 ksi, respectively. For applications where notch toughness is important, consult SSAB for specific Charpy V-notch toughness
ASTM A572 Grade 50 plate thickness tolerance - Bebon SteelASTM A572 Grade 50 plate is HSLA structure steel under ASTM A572/ A572M santdand. It is usually calculated by theory weight. Due to thickness tolerance, the theory weight and actual weight of ASTM A572 Grade 50 plate will have certain differences. The ASTM A572 Grade 50 plate thickness tolerance shall conform to ASTM A6/A6M standard as below:
ASTM A572 Grade 55 steel plates are usually used in structural applications that require high strength per weight ratio, such as heavy construction equipment, building structures, heavy duty anchoring systems, boom sections, truck frames, poles, liners, conveyors, structural steel shapes, etc.. Bebon International is a professional ASTM A572 Grade 55/A572 Gr. 55 HSLA structure steel plate
ASTM Weathering Steel Specifications Central Steel ServiceASTM A242. ASTM A242 is a high strength low-alloy structural steel specification with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance. This specification is normally applicable to steel plates through one-half inch in thickness. The atmospheric corrosion resistance of A242 is substantially better than that of carbon steels such as A36 and A572-50 with or without copper addition.
Steel Material Types - DefinitionsA588 is intended primarily for use in welded bridges and other structures where savings in weight for added durability is important along with the longer life cycle due to its corrosion resistance in comparison to A36 and A572. A242 = A242 is a high-strength low-alloy steel plate used in the construction of bridges and buildings. Its ability, to be resistant to corrosion leads to a much longer life in applications where
ASTM A572 steel plate is made of ASTM AA572, a High-Strength Low-Alloy, Columbium-Vanadium Structural Steel. There are five grades of high-strength low-alloy structural steel shapes, plates, sheet piling, and bars. Grades 42 , 50 , and 55 are best for riveted, bolted, or welded structures. Grades 60 and 65 are best for riveted or bolted construction of bridges, or for riveted, bolted, or welded
