Difference Between A36 Vs 1018 Steel? (Surprising Answer)Dec 10, 2019 · What Is A36 Steel Used For (Advantages) The greatest advantage of hot-rolled A36 steel is that it costs about half as much as cold-rolled 1018 steel. Because of its low cost and weldability, A36 is widely used for structural purposes. This includes the frames of bridges, buildings, automobiles, and general fabrication.
Keeping tabs on current ASTM specifications ARE YOU for structural plates is in transition. Use of ASTM A36 (F y = 36 ksi for plate thickness equal to or less than 8 in., y = 32 ksi othF - erwise; F u = 58 ksi) is as common as use of ASTM A572 Grade 50 (y = 50 ksi, F F u = 65 ksi for plate thickness equal to or less than 4 in.). The availability and cost ef-fectiveness of structural plates in grades
